Gibsonville, NC Albert Ammons, age 82 went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family. He was a native of Marion County, SC and the husband of 59 years to Elsie Grey Miles Ammons who survives. Albert was the owner and president of Conservatrol Corporation. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Gibsonville where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He was a US Army veteran serving as a Staff Sergeant in the Korean War. Albert was a pilot and an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Survivors include his wife of the home; son, Tim Ammons and wife, Courtney of Raleigh; daughters, Angie Culler and husband, Rich of Kernersville and Karen Steele and husband, Tim of High Point; grandchildren, Ashley Donovan, Bryant, Dalton and Bailey Culler; Conner and Reagan Steele. He was preceded in death by parents, Victor and Henrietta Lane Ammons and nine siblings. The Ammons family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Amedisys Hospice for their kind and compassionate care of Albert during his illness. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at 5:00pm at First Baptist Church of Gibsonville by Dr. Christian J. Ammons and Rev. Jim Upchurch and the burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park with military honors by the 82nd Airborne Division. The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 4:30 pm on Saturday at the church prior to the service and other times at the home.
