Betty Moore

Betty Holbrook Moore, age 73, of 653 Cable Rd. passed away Monday, Nov. 17, 2008 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. A native of Wilkes County, she was daughter of the late Ira Thomas Winfrey and Sarah Alice Hanks Holbrook and wife of Henry Lester Moore, Sr., who survives. Mrs. Moore was a member of St. Marks Church, a graduate of Draughan Business School and a Hospice volunteer and supporter. During her career, she was employed by Western Electric, Elon College and later retired from the Dept. of Defense. Survivors include her husband, Henry L. Moore, Sr. of the home; sons, Henry Lester "Hank: Moore, Jr. " of Florida and Philip Craig Moore and wife Beverly of Grifton, NC; grandchildren, Landon Phelps Moore and Brandee Andrews, great grandchildren, Will and Asher; sister, Patsy Triplett of Trap Hill; brother, Doug Brown and wife Linda of N. Wilkesboro. She was preceded in death by siblings, Pauline Riddle and Lonnie Holbrook. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, November 20, 2008 at St. Marks Church by Rev. Ben Bishop. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Moore will remain at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory until being taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7-8 P.M. Wednesday.
