Daniel William "Bill" Conklin, 81, of 4408 Burch Bridge Road passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at his residence. Mr. Conklin was born December 25, 1926 in Gibsonville to the late Andrew and Lillian Tickle Conklin. Bill formerly attended Bethel United Methodist Church where he was a Scout Master for the Boy Scouts, he was the former owner and operator of Conklin Grocery and he was a Senior Air Policeman for the U S. Air Force. Survivors include his wife, Sadie Hall Conklin of the home; a son, Dale Conklin and his wife, Mona of Burlington; two grandchildren, Lisa Conklin and Danny Conklin; four step children, Pat Walker and her husband Phillip of Elon, Barbara Overby and her husband Donald of Burlington, Glenn Hall and his wife Debbie of Burlington, and Don Hall and his wife Sandy of Graham; ten step grandchildren, five step great grandchildren, and two step great great grandchildren; a sister, Doris Ammons of Gibsonville; and two brothers, Bobby Conklin of Gibsonville and John Conklin of Leesburg, Fl. Bill was preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn Conklin, two brothers, Holt Conklin and Hubert Conklin; and a sister, Estelle Huffines. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 20, 2008 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dave Gilbert and Rev. David Neff officiating. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home.
