Cedar Grove, NC- Dorse Horner, 80 of 8703 Wilkerson, Rd. passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2010 doing what he loved the most, farming. Mr. Horner was born January 31, 1930 in Orange County to the late Frank and Nettie Wilson Horner. He was the husband of the late Mamie Turner Horner who preceded him. He was a member of Moore's Chapel Baptist Church. Dorse retired form Sellars Dye House and Dixie Yarns, was a farmer, and he was the Superintendent of Jordan Properties. Survivors include his daughter, Deborah Fargis and her husband, Larry of Swepsonville; a son, Dwight Horner of Cedar Grove; three grandchildren, Brandon Fargis and his wife, Sarah, Brad Fargis, and Shannon Chelenza and her husband, Michael; three great grandchildren, Tyler Fargis, Avery Fargis, and Trace Chelenza; a brother, J. B. Horner; three sisters, Lou Brooks, Fannie Greeson, and Elizabeth Quakenbush; many nieces and nephews; and his special companion, Martha Scott. Dorse was preceded in death by his wife, parents, two brothers, Jessie Horner and Dea Horner; and two sisters, Tiny Horner and Mae Bradsher. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 18, 2010 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Norman Fargis and Rev. Joel Bradsher officiating. Interment will follow at Graham Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home of his daughter, 3650 S. Hwy 119 Haw River, NC. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Patricia Bynum Fund or D. Earl Pardue Fund at ARMC Charitable Foundation, P.O. Box 202 Burlington, NC 27215
