ELON- Edith Cosby Shotzberger, 86, died Friday, May 11, 2007 at her residence. She was born in Midlothian, Va. but called North Carolina home for the past 39 years. She was a homemaker, and loving, caring, giving mother and wife. She was fortunate to have many friends. She had been active in the Burlington Womens club and the Tea and Topics Book Club in Salisbury where she lived for 12 years while her husband was President of Catawba College. Catawba bestowed an honorary doctorate for her service to the college. She was a graduate of Ferrum College. She was preceded in death by her much beloved husband Martin Shotzberger, a son, Martin E. Shotzberger, parents, Eston and Lucy Cosby, a brother, W. E. Cosby and a sister, Anna Clay. Mrs. Shotzberger is survived by two daughters, Jo Ann Sichi of Mebane, NC, and Beverly Harmon of Staunton, VA; a son, Gary Shotzberger of Mt. Pleasant, NC; four grandchildren, Christina Shotzberger, Cosby Harmon Martin, Holt Harmon, and Elisabeth Harmon; three step-grandchildren, Rob Sichi, Amie Gwaltney, and David Sichi; six great grandchildren; two sisters, Virginia Combs and Mae Smith; a brother, Eston Cosby, Jr. all of Richmond, Va. A memorial service will be held 4:00 p.m. Friday, May 18, 2007 at Elon College Community Church by Rev. Dr. Daniel H. Kuhn, Jr. A visitation will be held 2:45-3:45 p.m. prior to the service in the church fellowship room. A private interment will be held in Richmond, Va. at a later date. Memorials can be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance- Caswell, 915 Chapel Hill Rd. Burlington, NC 27217 or to the Elon College Community Church, P.O. Box 625 Elon, NC 27244.
