Elbert Pritchard

Burlington, NC Elbert Pritchard, age 74, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 21, 2010 at his home. He was a native of Bertie County. Elbert worked as personnel manager with Burlington Industries Print Shop for many years. He worked with Elon University and later retired from Belk's Department Store. Elbert was a member of Grove Park Baptist Church and a member of the Lamplighters Sunday School Class. He graduated from East Carolina University with Bachelors and Masters Degree in education. He taught and coached for several years at Smithfield Selma High School and Randleman High School. He was an avid Washington Redskins and Atlanta Braves fan. Elbert enjoyed playing golf and fishing with his son and grandsons. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and "Poppa." Survivors include his daughter, Cathy Foust and her husband, Eddie of Burlington; son, David Pritchard and his wife, Paige of Burlington; grandsons, Alan and Joey Pritchard both of Burlington; sister, Terri Pritchard of Guyton, Georgia; numerous nieces and nephews and close friends and family, the Gordon Millspaugh family, the Rodney Staley family, the Bobby Andrews family and Jean Bray. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Edna Phillips Pritchard and his former wife, Mary "Boots' Walton Pritchard; parents, Roger Lee and Macie Rawls Pritchard; The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Grove Park Baptist Church by Dr. Gene Hunsinger and the burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home.
