Burlington, NC Frances Troxler Smith, 94, formerly of Gwyn Road, Burlington died Nov. 10, 2011 at White Oak Manor after fifteen years of failing health. Born and raised in Alamance County she was loved and respected as a friend and Christian counselor by all who knew her. She served as a Sunday school teacher at Bethel United Methodist Church where she held many leadership roles. She was a homemaker and a farmers wife while she raised her children, and later worked at the Williamsburg Plant after her husband Barney Smiths death in 1968. She was preceded in death by her parents Peter E. and Janet Wood Troxler, sister Myrtle Troxler Morgan, and brother M. Irvin Troxler. She is survived by her two sons, A. Clay Smith and wife Nancy Joyner and Steve W. Smith and wife Shelley, all of Gwyn Road, Burlington, and three grandchildren, Jennifer L. Smith of Burlington, John M. Smith of Chapel Hill and Neil C. Smith of Hulu Dao, China. A service to celebrate her life will be conducted on Sunday, Nov 13, 2011 at 2:00 pm in the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Stew Crank and burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home prior to the service from 12:30 pm until 1:45 pm.
