George Garner

Burlington, NC George Monroe Junior Gerner, 54, of 6914 Holts Store Road died on Friday, October 7, 2005 at Moses Cone Hospital. He was a native of Guilford County and the husband of Gale Johnson Gerner for over 36 years. George was employed with Guilford County and a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church. He enjoyed riding four wheelers, go-karts, horses and camping with his family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Gale Johnson Gerner of the home; daughter, Glenda Gerner Poole of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Shelby Gerner of Whitsett ; grandchildren, Brittany Soots and Zachary Poole; father, George Filmore Gerner of Burlington; sister and brother-in-law, Dottie and Doug Hornaday of Liberty. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elsie Lena Smith Gerner and maternal grandmother, Lillian Clapp Smith. The funeral service will be held on Monday, October 10, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bible Baptist Church by Dr. Tommy Richardson and the burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday at Lowe Funeral home and Crematory and other times at the home.
