James Porter

Burlington, NC James Carroll Porter, 60, 611 N. Main St. went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 12, 2007 at Duke Medical Center. Mr. Porter was born May 7, 1946 in Marshalltown, Iowa. His parents were the late Reece and Alice Collins Porter. He worked for Pass and Seymour Legrand for many years and was a faithful member of Burlington Assembly of God where he served as a deacon, board member of the church, and Burlington Christian Academy. Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Kathryn Haynes Porter of the home; three daughters, Lauren Porter, Anna Porter, and Emily Porter all of Burlington; father and mother-in-law, Lawrence and Wilma Haynes of East Bend, N.C. He was preceded in death by his brother Jerry Porter. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 15, 2007 at Burlington Assembly of God by Pastor Howard Thompson. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and at other times the family will be at the residence.
