James May

James Maurice May, age 86, of 2214 Basil Holt Rd, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2011 at Hospice Home. A native of Guilford County, he was the son of the late Paul Bethea and Mary Allen May. He was retired from Lucent Technologies after 37 years. Maurice was a member of Eastlawn Baptist Church, where he was active in the choir and was a former Deacon, He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, a lifetime member of the VFW in Gibsonville, a member of American Legion Post # 427, a Navy Veteran of WWII and the Navy Reserve. He is survived by his son, Jason Kyle May and wife Melanie of Burlington; daughter, Jayme Wiggs Hackney of Burlington; grandchildren, Britney Nichole Wiggs, Jason Kyle Hackney, Hogan Mitchell May, Benjamin Allen May and Nancy Ann May Beamon; brothers, Doug May and wife Eydie of Graham, Wesley May of Cary and Pete May and wife Hilda of Asheboro; and step children, Derek Smith and Wendy Smith. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Nancy Moser May; son, Darrell Scott May; and siblings, Conard May, Leon May, Millard May, Rodney May, Marion M. Toney and Barbara Ann Hursey. Funeral service will be held at 4:00 pm Wednesday June 8, 2011 in the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Steve Joyner. Interment will follow in Graham Memorial Park. Mr. May will remain at Lowe Funeral Home through the funeral service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8pm Tuesday and at other times the home of Jason and Melanie May; 1704 Woodland Ave., Burlington, NC.
