Joel Richardson

Burlington, NC Joel Richardson, age 85, of 4757 Hwy 49 South went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 18, 2007 at his sons home surrounded by his family. Joel was a native of Rockingham County and the husband of the late Cathleen Allred Richardson. Joel retired from the Dan River Mills and attended the First Baptist Church of Alamance. He was an avid fan of minor league baseball, and he and his wife travelled locally and regionally to follow various teams. Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Tommy Richardson and his wife, Lucille of Burlington, Clint Richardson and his fiancee, Kim Morris of Reidsville; daughter and son-in-law, Jo Ellen Santa and her husband, Tom of Burlington; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren; brother, Dale Richardson of Burlington; sisters, Lillian Culberson-Roberts of Kannapolis, Thelma Carver of Burlington. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, James E. and Lula Kay Harris Richardson; brother, Charles A. Richardson and a sister, Esther Briggs Workman. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 21, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Tommy Richardson and Rev. Daniel Gregory and the burial will follow at Friendship United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
