John Brown

Burlington, NC John Charles "J.C." Brown went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 12, 2010 at the Hospice Home. He was born in Rocky Mount, NC to the late Claude McKinnley Brown and Madge Dunning Brown. J.C. was a self-employed carpenter during his lifetime. He was a former member of Piedmont Baptist Church where he served as an usher and trustee for many years and was a member of Belmont Baptist Church where he also served as an usher. He enjoyed working in his garden and whittling. J. C. was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Survivors include his daughters, Patricia "Pat" Brown of the home, Gay Brown Morris and her husband, Craig of Snow Camp; son, Ray Brown and his wife, Cynthia of Burlington; grandchildren, Jonathan Brown and his wife, Brandy of Burlington, Jessica Scott Mapes and her husband, Nathan of Cary, Megan Scott Gerringer and her husband, Kevin of Whitsett, Jennifer Brown of Burlington, Sam Scott of Graham, John Caleb "J.C." Morris of Snow Camp, Andy Morris and Matt Morris both of Elon; great grandchildren, Aly Beth Gerringer and Kailyn Gerringer both of Whitsett, Gavin Ray Nicholson of Burlington; sister, Orphelia Yarborough of Indiana and a brother, Claude Ellisworth "C.E" Brown of Burlington. He was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Larestine Crawford Brown and his former wife, Mary Cooke Brown; daughter, Johnnie Haver Brown; parents; sister, Haver Lee Brown Adams; brothers, Pete and Dexter Brown. The funeral service will be held on Monday, November 15, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Larry Janey and the burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will be at the son's home on Watkins Road at other times. The family request donations by made to the donor's local church.
