Leven Hackett

Mr. Leven T. Bill Hackett, 73, of 1540 Sandy Cross Rd. went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. Mr. Hackett was born September 14, 1934 in Coats, NC to the late William Robert and Mary Holland Hackett. He was retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years of service where he received two purple hearts and numerous other service awards. He was also retired from May Apparel of Mebane, was a member of Fleet Reserve Association Branch #52 of Durham and attended Riverdale Baptist Church. Bill was an avid fisherman who loved his family and friends and loved to travel, and never met a stranger. Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Geraldine Manning Hackett; a daughter, Terri Marie Hackett of the home; a brother, Coley Hackett of Florida; and a sister, Ann Reed of Hampton, Va. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John Q. Hackett. Funeral service will be held 4:00 p.m. Saturday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Jim Hall. Interment will follow at Graham Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and at other times the family will be at the residence.
