Mrs. Linda Clapp Jones, age 61, of Stagg St., passed away Sunday, July 14, 2013 at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a fifteen month battle with cancer. A native of Alamance County, she was the daughter of the late James Harvey Clapp and Mrs. Emma Mae Terry Clapp, who survives. She was married for over 11 years to George Edward "Eddie" Jones, who survives. Linda was formerly employed with Lemco Hosiery before retiring from the Burlington Police Department with over 22 years of service where she was the supervisor for parking enforcement and the school crossing guards and was known as the "Den Mother". She was active in Relay for Life and enjoyed several hobbies such as working with stained glass, picture framing, crocheting and mosaic tiling. Linda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Mrs. Jones is survived by her husband of the home; mother of Alamance; daughter, Cassandra Oldham "Sandy" Langley and her husband, Danny Cornell "Cory" Langley, of Burlington; a grandson, Hunter Ryan Langley; two brothers, Jerry Clapp and his wife, Venus, of Pittsboro and Tommy Clapp, Sr. and his wife, Diane, of Archdale; one niece; and one nephew. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery where the Burlington Police Department will provide the honor guard and pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6 8 PM Tuesday evening at the funeral home and other times at her mother's home, 2829 Cardinal Lane, Alamance, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Susan B. Komen Foundation, Attn: Donor Services, PO Box 650309, Dallas, TX 75265-0309.
