Maynard Ellington

Graham, NC Maynard Ellington, age 80, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 28, 2012. He was born in Rockingham County and was married for 61 years to Jeanette Brewer Ellington who survives. Maynard retired from Burlington Industries Pioneer Plant after many years. He was a longtime member of Grove Park Baptist Church, a member of the Reliable Sunday School Class and a member of the church choir. Church activities included being chairman of the deacons as well as church moderator and being involved in the Mount Zion Association. Maynard was also a Gideon who helped to spread God's word. Music was a major part of Maynard's life and a gift used by him to honor the Lord. He sang most of his life with his wife at weddings, funerals and various events. Maynard preformed with the Men of Alamance and various quartets, singing for churches and civic events. He was a member of the Civitans helping to raise money to benefit local charities. Maynard was a past member of the Western Flying Club and was an avid pilot. He enjoyed anything remotely related to flying. He was happiest serving others and lived a deep abiding commitment to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Survivors include his wife, Jeanette B. Ellington of the home; son, Michael Ellington and his wife, Schotsi of Burlington; daughters, Donna Bullis and her husband, Danny of Burlington and Linda Dameron and her husband, Blake of Carolina Beach, NC; grandchildren, Stephane Ellington, Brandon Bell, Lynn Bullis and Sara Paschal; three great grandchildren; sister, Virginia Allred Frazier of Burlington. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick Pinkerman Ellington and Thelma Crews Ellington; sister, Carlene Amick and a brother, F. Marion Ellington. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, August 31, 2012 at 11:00 am at Grove Park Baptist Church by Dr. Gene Hunsinger and the burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 10:45 am prior to the service at the church. Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
