Silas McCullok

Silas "Mack" McCullock of Orlando died January 7, 2009 follow-ing a declining period of strength and health. The span of his earthly pilgrimage was 78 years. In the weeks prior to his passing he had expressed his desire to have his suffering be over and to depart and be with the Lord. He was born in Orange County, North Carolina on December 9, 1930 to Lillie Westbrooks McCullock. He was reared at Thomasville Children's Home in Thomasville, N.C. and was a graduate of Elon College. He worked for Western Electric in Burlington, N.C., AT&T in Greensboro, N.C., and finished his career with BellSouth in Orlando, Fla. Mack was a member of the Delaney Baptist Church of Orlando, Fla. Mack is survived by the mother of his children, Chris McCullock; sons, Steven McCullock and his wife, Brenda and their children Brad and Lauren of Chesapeake, Va., and Keith McCullock and his wife, Kathy and their children Ashlee and Madison of Cary, N.C. He is also survived by stepgranddaughters Starr Whatley and her husband, David Whatley and their children Carleigh and Katie of Chesapeake, Va. and Jackie Inge and her children Kylah and Jeremiah of Portsmouth, Va. Mack was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Betty McCullock and an infant sister, Francis Marie McCullock. A funeral service administered by Dr. James Wigton was held at Delaney Baptist Church in Orlando, Florida Saturday, January 10, 2009 at 2 p.m. A visitation will be held Friday, January 16 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lowe Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel Saturday, January 17, 2009 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park.
