Gibsonville-Billy Earl Overman, 89 died on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Moses Cone Hospital surrounded by his family. He was a native of Alamance County and the husband of 57 years to the late Grace Gentry Overman.
Billy served 6 years in the US Navy and later retired after 18 years with the US Air Force. Billy served during the Vietnam War in De-Nang from 66-67 before retirement. He was a member of VFW Post 2972 in Gibsonville and was a life member of the DAV. Billy was co-owner of Bill’s Video World in Gibsonville and of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include his daughters, Deborah (Robert) Whitehead, Misty (Brandon) Bailey and Angel Overman all of Burlington and Leslie Shoffner of Elon; sons, Billy Wayne (Jamie) Overman of Burlington; 17 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; brother, William Clifton (Nancy) Overman of Reidsville. He was preceded in death by his wife, daughter, Karen Jeffrey and a son, Leo Joseph Overman; parents, Leo Clifton and Gladys Paylor Overman.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at 2:00pm at Alamance Memorial Park with military honors by the US Air Force. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Tuesday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory.
