Ada Sue "Susie" Swaringen Lowder

Ada Sue Swaringen “Susie” Lowder, 87, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at the Hospice Home surrounded by her family. She was born on December 31, 1936 in Stanly County, NC to the late James Paul Swaringen and the late Alice Shuping Swaringen. Susie was the wife of 63 years to the late Brady Carl Lowder, Jr. who died in 2018.

 Susie had formerly worked with Smarten-up Wall Coverings and was a seamstress with Designing Windows in Burlington. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Elon where she served on numerous committees from being a former Sunday School Teacher, a Deacon, Choir Member, the leader of the Children’s Choir and a GA Leader, Chairman of the Flower Committee and Chairman of the Women’s Mission. In past years, Susie enjoyed volunteering at the Hospice Store, painting and playing board games, but most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

 She is survived by her son, Brady Michael “Mike” Lowder and wife Jan; grandchildren, Brad Lowder and wife Dee and Christina Mohanani and husband Vijay; great grandchildren, Jordan Bradley Lowder, Camden Brady Lowder, Dylan Sutton and wife Erica, and Ashlie Sutton and fiancé, Jordan Ramsey; great great grandson, Liam Sutton and a great great granddaughter on the way; several nieces and nephews; and a great grand pup, Jenny. Susie was preceded in death by her husband, Brady Carl Lowder, Jr.; her parents, James Swaringen, Sr. and Alice Swaringen; her two sons, James Wesley Lowder and Phillip Lynn Lowder; five brothers and three sisters.

 A funeral service to celebrate Susie’s life will be held on Monday, April 22, 2024 at 2:00pm at First Baptist Church of Elon by Dr. David Durham with the burial to follow at Magnolia Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2pm to 4pm on Sunday, April 21, 2024 at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times the family will be at Mike’s residence in Graham.
