Ailene Akins

Graham-Ailene Shatterly Akins, 67, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at the Hospice Home surrounded by her family. She was a native of Alamance County and the wife of 4o years to Keith Akins who survives.
Ailene worked for the Graham Housing Authority for several years and most recently for was employed with Meals on Wheels. She attended Christian Life Assembly and was a secretary for several years with Kinnett Memorial Baptist Church. She was devoted to her family and enjoyed making quilts to share with her family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Keith Akins of the home; son, Jeremy Akins and wife, Jeannie of Burlington; daughter, Amy Wilde and husband, George of Archdale; grandchildren, Julian and James Akins and Payton Grace Van Zee; sister, Kathy Elaine Shatterly of Burlington. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Allen Shatterly, Jr. and Stella Blanch Shockley Shatterly; brothers, George "Allan" Shatterly, III and Ricky Shatterly and a sister, Vicky Shatterly.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Hospice of Alamance-Caswell for their kind and compassionate care of Ailene during her illness.
A service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 11:00am at Christian Life Assembly in Gibsonville by Pastor Bruce Ritter. The burial will follow at Graham Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5-7pm on Friday, November 30, 2018 at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at her son's home.
