Alan "Dusty" Wayne Henderson

October 24, 1972 — March 31, 2024

Alan Wayne “Dusty” Henderson Jr., 51, passed away on March 31, 2024. Dusty was a beloved husband, son, brother, and friend. He loved his family and friends deeply and diligently kept in touch with them, extending encouragement through prayers, scriptures, and his sense of humor which we all loved.

Dusty was born on October 24, 1972 in Columbia, South Carolina. As a young boy, he loved learning about his Creator and even as a toddler he was excited to share with others truths about Jehovah and His Word. He continued to grow as a spiritual person and was baptized in February 1987. As a teenager, Dusty was a hard worker who supported his family’s window cleaning business, even working early in the mornings before going to school. Dusty spent his time and energy as a young person working at assemblies and conventions, and helping with building Kingdom Halls. He was always willing to handle impromptu assignments and at every opportunity possible shared in the preaching work. After graduating high school in 1989, he pioneered for several years.

Because of his desire for others to learn about Jehovah, he began assisting the friends in the ASL group in Columbia. As it turned out, this led to his meeting the love of his life, Jenny, in the fall of 2004. They were married on April 29, 2006, and soon would have celebrated their 18th anniversary. They always worked hard to put Jehovah first in their marriage. With his strong love for Jehovah and spiritual foundation, he became a wonderful spiritual head. Together they continued to support the ASL congregation for the next 7 years in both South Carolina and North Carolina. Even though they did not have their own children, he became “Uncle Dusty” to many of their close friend’s children.

Dusty will be greatly and dearly missed. We now await the fulfillment of the Bible’s promises that he held so dear of a resurrection in a paradise earth, where we will then be reunited with him.

Dusty is survived by his wife Jenny Henderson; parents, Wayne and Kathy Henderson; sister, Jenny Winford; sister and brother-in-law, Dina & Steve Erwin; mother-in-law, Alice Henderson; brother-in-law William Henderson, Jr.; nephews, Noah Farrell, Jonah Farrell, and Beau Winford; nieces, Abby Farrell and Ava Winford. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, William “Butch” Henderson, Sr.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at 3:30 PM Saturday, April 6, 2024 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses 3679 Leaphart Rd., West Columbia, SC 29169.  For those who are unable to attend, you may view the service via Zoom, Meeting ID = 86926882299 and Pass Code = 452250.
