Alice Sumner

Haw River - Mrs. Alice Marie Lassiter Sumner, 66, of Hill St. went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 23, 2006. A native of Alamance County, she was the daughter of the late Dual Pink Lassiter and Lillie Lamb Lassiter and was married to the late Grady Taylor Sumner. She retired from the Park Twin Theatre in Burlington. She is survived by her sons, Grady Dale Sumner and Randy Taylor Sumner, both of Haw River and Gerald Dwayne Sumner and his wife Laura of Rock Hill, SC; daughter, Diane Phillips and her husband Richard of Haw River; sisters, Rita "Pat" and Sammy Rogers of Haw River, Rebecca "Bill" Barrett of Mebane and Jenny and Frank Haga of Jacksonville, FL; brothers, Willard "Joe" and Margaret Lassiter of Hillsborough, Douglas "Red" Lassiter of Thomasville, and Bobby "Jack" and Connie Lassiter of Haw River; grandchildren, Dottie Sumner, Calvin and Heather Phillips, Alice Dale Sumner, Brandie Sumner, Savanna Sumner, D. J. Sumner, Jennifer Sumner, Charity Sumner, Jonathan Sumner, Caitlin Sumner, Anna Sumner and Cristina Sumner; great grandchildren, Taylor Williamson, Hannah Robertson, Colby Sumner and Garrett Phillips, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, brothers, Ernest "Floyd" Lassiter, Hassel "Hank" Lassiter, and Richard "Tom" Lassiter; sisters, Kathleen Wimbush, Margie Lassiter, Thelma Page and Blanche "Dot" Fluette. The funeral will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bennie Smith, Rev. Rodney Staley and Rev. Boyd Pickard officiating. Burial will follow at the Haw River City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Friday evening at the funeral home and other times at the home of Diane and Richard Phillips, 134 Hill St., Haw River. The family would like to say a special "Thank You" to the Hospice and Palliative Care Center staff, Dr. Purvis of Chapel Hill, Dr. Choksi of Burlington, and Rhonda Trollinger at the Hospice Home.
