Alton Ingram Farrior, 86, of 6853 Bethel Church Rd., died Saturday, May 26, 2007 at Moses Cone Hospital after several months of failing health. A native of Duplin County, he was the son of the late Julian Isaac Farrior and the late Eliza Jane Hunter Farrior and was married for 57 years to Mrs. Jeanette Thomas Farrior, who survives. Mr. Farrior graduated from Broad St. School and attended Elon College. He was retired after working for 20 years as a rural carrier for the U.S. Postal Service and also worked 20 years with Liberty Hosiery. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, where he was a Air Force Engineer stationed in the Philippines, where he received an American Theatre Campaign medal, three Bronze Service Stars, Phillippines liberation ribbon, EAMET medal, Good Conduct medal and Victory medal. Mr. Farrior was an accomplished musician, directing his own band in the 1950s, where he played the saxaphone. He later sang baratone with the True Tone Quartet for 12 years and later sang another 12 years with the Evangaliers Trio. He was a member of Gibsonville Evangelical Methodist Church for over 25 years, serving as the gutarist, along with serving as the treasurer and holding several other church offices, he later joined Peoples Memorial Christian Church in 1992. Mr. Farrior is survived by his wife of the home; two sons, E. Earl Farrior and his wife, Vickie, of Winston-Salem and Christian Isaac Farrior and his wife, Erin, of Gibsonville; two grandsons, Joshua Engram Farrior and Seth Allen Farrior; and one great grandchilld, Taylor. He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Lucy Clubb, Mary Younger, Katie Wallace and Sally Jones; and two brothers, James Hadley Farrior and David Hatch Farrior. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Monday, May 28, 2007 at Peoples Memorial Christian Church by the Rev. John Shields, the Rev. Hobert Isley, and the Rev. Jon Davidson. Interment will follow at Gibsonville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-6 PM Sunday afternoon at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory.
