Mr. Alvin John House, Sr., 94, formerly of Oak St. went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 4, 2006 at the Hospice Home following several months of declining health. A native of Franklinton, NC he was the son of the late N. B. House and Flora Blackley House. He was a retired businessman and electrical contractor. He never met a stranger and had friends from all walks of life. He was a member of Kimesville Road Baptist Church and enjoyed Aging in Action in Gibsonville. Survivors include his son, Jay House and wife Linda of Swepsonville; granddaughter, Lori Junior Holt; grandsons, Randy Ainzella Lewis, Ricky Elizabeth Lewis, and Josh Tracey House; great granddaughters, Megan Holt, Sarah Lewis, Erica Lewis; great grandson, Trey Holt; beloved sister, Eunice H. Barrow of Garner; several nieces and nephews and a faithful, loving friend, Minnie West of Gibsonville. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Joan H. Lewis, with whom he lived until her death in January 2006; wives, Pauline Haney House Joan and Jay's mother, Irene W. House and Betty Sawyer House, 2 sisters and 2 brothers. The family will receive friends at Kimesville Road Baptist Church Monday, August 7, 2006 from 10:00 - 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. J. L. Franks and Rev. Tommy Love officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215 or to the Masonic Home for Children at Oxford, 600 College St., Oxford, NC , which he faithfully supported for many years. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to all the staff, nurses and volunteers at the Hospice Home for countless kindnesses and special care.
