Richard Capps

McLeansville Andy “Richard” Capps 68, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 14, 2022 after several months of declining health.  Richard was a native of Alamance County and the son of the late Charlie Hackney Capps, Sr. and Alene Blanchard Capps. He was the husband of 50 years to Sharon “Sherry” Wyrick Capps who survives.

Richard was of the Baptist faith. He retired from Thompson and Arthur paving after of 43 years of service. He loved the Lord and the simple things in life. Richard enjoyed spending time outdoors whether it was bush hogging with his tractor, working in his shop, woodworking or growing flowers. He loved good gospel blue grass music and spending time with his family and friends. His grandchildren were the center of his life.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon “Sherry” Wyrick Capps of the home; sons, Richard Clinton “Clint” Capps and wife, Tammy of Gibsonville and Michael Dwayne Capps and wife, Toni of McLeansville; grandchildren, Eden Brooke Capps and Erik Thomas Capps; sisters, Edna Younger and husband, Fred, Judith Johnson, Patricia Morris and Cheryl Dawson and husband, Eddie; sister-in-law, Carolyn Capps, mother-in-law, Dorothy Hepler Wyrick and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Charlie Hackney Capps, Jr. and Sam Capps; sisters, Mary Ruth Turner and her late husband, Pete and Becky Anderson and her late husband, Charlie; brother-in-law, Kenny Johnson and father-in-law, Jacob “JB” Wyrick, Sr.

The family would like to thank the physicians and nurses at ARMC for their kind and compassionate care for Richard.

A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00am Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at Alamance Memorial Park by Dr. Tommy Cook.  The family will be at the residence.at other times.
