Ann Jenette Laird

Burlington – Ann Jenette Setterlind Laird, 84, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 29, 2023 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. She was born in Washington County, FL on October 18, 1939 to the late Carl Brown Setterlind and Annie Lou Richardson Setterlind and was the wife of 38 years to the late Emmett Jean Laird.

Before her husband’s death, Ann stayed home and took care of the house and her children. She loved to cook and entertain and most of her time was spent doing just that. Emmett was the love of her life, but after he passed, she could not just sit at home. She started work at the Bealls Department Store in Sun City, FL in 1997 and worked there faithfully for over 20 years. She lived life to its fullest, never one to sit idle; she was always going somewhere, and thoroughly enjoying herself along the way. Her favorite song was “My Way” sung by Frank Sinatra, and she truly lived her life - her way.

Survivors include her daughters, Sharon Sprow, Susan Douglass and husband Jonathan; grandchildren, Grant Sprow, Griffin Sprow, Parker Sprow, Justin Douglass (Bryanna), Jaren Douglass, Shelby Jean Horne (Payton) and great grandchildren, Grayson, Waylin and Barritt.  She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three sisters and one brother.

The Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, Nov 11th at 3:30 pm at Cedar Ridge 2680 S Mebane St. Burlington, NC 27215 in the first floor activity room.
