Anna Mae Robertson Collins Hucks, 94, of Burlington, North Carolina, passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at Alamance Regional Medical Center, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born in Alamance County, Anna was the daughter of the late George Bryant and Myrtle Shatterly Robertson. She was married to Leon Leroy Hucks, the man who adored her more than life itself.
Anna retired after many faithful years of service with Lucent Technologies. A longtime member of Glen Hope Baptist Church, she once blessed the congregation with her beautiful soprano voice as a member of the choir. Even in her later years, her sweet singing could still be heard whenever a familiar hymn or melody played, a gentle reminder of the joyful spirit that lived within her.
To everyone who knew her, one word always came to mind when describing Anna: sweet. She was genuinely the sweetest soul many had ever known — kind, gentle, and full of quiet grace. Her presence brought comfort and light to those around her, and her family feels endlessly blessed to have been loved by such a tender heart. Heaven has truly gained an extra measure of sweetness with her homecoming.
She is survived by her sons, Tim Collins and his wife Laura of Burlington, and Barry Collins and his wife Linda of Burlington; her stepson, Joe Hucks and his wife Sue of Sneads Ferry, NC, and their two children; two step-grandchildren; and three step-great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leroy Hucks; her brothers, Roy, Uriel, and Lester Robertson; and her sisters, Mildred, Lucille, and Helen.
A graveside service to celebrate Anna’s life will be held on Monday, April 20, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. prior to the service at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory.
