Anne Squires Forbis, age 73, left the shackles of her earthly body on June 13, 2026 to meet her Lord and Savior face to face. Heaven now celebrates her long-awaited arrival. ‘Anna’ (Jesus called her) adds her voice to the saints and elder’s symphony. She is caught up in passionate song and dance around the throne, casting her crowns at the feet of Almighty God.
Anne, or ‘Nana’, as she was called by her precious grandchildren, was born in Burlington, NC on August 26, 1952. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Betsy Squires, her sister, Janet Squires, her brother, Bobby Squires, and 2 babies before they were full-term. She was the loving wife of 55 years to Mike Forbis, who took unbelievable care of her as her Parkinson’s disease progressed. Their decades long love was one for the history books. Anne was the very proud mother of Jon Forbis (Shannon), Justin Forbis (Kit), and Meagan Fishel (Jonathan). She was the best Nana ever to Mychael, Nathan, Zach, Jordan, Isaiah, Gabe, Luke, Lily, Isaac, Josiah, and Anna Grace, plus the bonuses, Christie and Carolyn. She was artistic and energetic, and a force to be reckoned with, especially as a prayer warrior. Countless lives were touched by her prayer ministry over the years. Her wit was undeniable and always on point, and is shared by her children and grandchildren alike. Despite her diagnosis 27 years ago, she carried a bold knowledge that Christ WOULD heal her. Time and again she rallied her heart and faith to boldly approach the Throne of Grace and waited eagerly for relief. She has now received, not only the fullness of her healing, but also knowledge and joy!
A funeral service to celebrate Anne’s life will be held at 11:00 in the morning on Thursday, June 18, 2026 in the chapel at Lowe Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 9:30 – 10:45 prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home. For anyone unable to attend the service, it will be livestreamed on this page.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials may be made to Authoracare Hospice; 914 Chapel Hill Rd. Burlington, NC 27215.
