Anne Burnett Kennedy

Anne Burnett Kennedy, of Burlington, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at Alamance Regional Medical Center surrounded by her family. She was born in Durham to the late Albert Clarence Burnett and the late Bertha Inez Gentry Burnett and was married for 40 years to Boyd Wayne Kennedy, Sr. who survives.

Anne was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend whose life was marked by faith, service, and the simple joys she loved so well. She retired after 30 years in accounting at UNC Hospital, a career that reflected her steady dedication and faithful work over many years.

Her church and community were important parts of her life. Anne was a member of Holly Hill Baptist Church, where she served in the Card Ministry, helped with socks for veterans, and took part in service on site, helping families with projects and personal needs in their homes. She also went to local movie theatres to promote religious movies, sharing the values that meant so much to her.

Anne found happiness in the everyday blessings of life. She loved baking, especially pies and cakes, and enjoyed fishing, yard work, walking, and trips to the beach. She took special delight in watching hummingbirds and butterflies, and she dearly loved her two special dogs.

Above all, Anne cherished her family. She is survived by her beloved husband, Wayne; her daughter, Luann Tilley, and husband Terry; her son, Boyd Wayne “Pete” Kennedy, Jr., and wife Twila; her daughter, Hollie Stone and husband, Robert; 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Anne is also survived by her twin sister, Gail Woods and husband Sam, as well as her brother, Butch Burnett and wife, Doris. The love she shared with her family will remain a lasting gift in their lives. She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Tracy Kennedy.

A visitation will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at Holly Hill Baptist Church, 2818 Edgewood Ave, Burlington, NC 27215. A service to celebration her life will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church. A graveside service will be held later that day at 2:30 p.m. in West Concord Cemetery, 331 Union Cemetery Rd., Concord, NC 28027.

Anne Burnett Kennedy will be remembered for her caring spirit, her faithful service, and the warmth she brought to those around her. Her memory will be treasured by all who knew and loved her.
