Annette P. (Lallier) Sarty was born September 23, 1938, during the 1938 hurricane, on her grandparents’ Osea and Auselina (Boutin) Lallier’s’ dairy farm in Seekonk, MA to the late Origene P. and Jeannette (Robitaille) Lallier.
Annette was raised on the farm until her parents bought a home in Attleboro, MA where she lived until she married her first husband William (Sam) Bass Jr. of Maryland in 1958. Annette lived with Sam in Washington, D.C. and Bowie, MD where she had her two daughters Pauline and Suzanne. When the marriage to Sam dissolved, she returned to Attleboro with her little girls, where met the love of her life Everett K. Sarty. When she married Everett, she moved to Brockton, MA where she remained until Everett passed away in 1994. After her husband’s passing, she moved to Burlington, NC where she remained until her passing.
Annette was a master crafter all her life. She was an expert seamstress and quilter, created beautiful knitted and crocheted items for her family and many gifts (especially crocheted snowflakes), and refurnished antique furniture with gorgeous stenciling and hand painting. Annette enjoyed sharing her talents with others and was the leader of a 4-H club for many years, at her home in Brockton, where she taught many young girls how to sew, knit, cook and craft. The club entered their creations at many Plymouth County fairs winning countless awards. For several years, Annette had a store “The Red Door Country Store” in her Brockton home where she sold her crafts and penny candy. Annette and Everett enjoyed square dancing and Annette made them both matching outfits and also made matching shirts for Everett’s country western band members. Annette was a talented piano player and liked to play the piano and sing, as Everett played the steel guitar. In the 1990’s, Annette attended Bridgewater State College where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology. She later went on to teach quilting classes at Bridgewater State College and in her home. Her class went on to create a Brockton Bicentennial quilt that hung at the Brockton Art Museum and City Hall. Annette continued to craft all her life, even with being blind the last year of life, she finished pieces for her great-granddaughter just weeks before her death. Annette loved socializing and loved a good hearty conversation. When she faced the challenges of blindness, she had an unwavering strength to learn how to utilize any available technology that could enhance the quality of her life and keep her connected to her loved ones. She had a great sense of humor, lots of courage and perseverance, and remained upbeat throughout her challenging times.
Annette passed away unexpectedly in her Burlington, NC home on December 23, 2025. Annette is survived by her loving sister Yvonne (Lallier) Poffenbaugh (North Carolina), her brothers Paul Lallier and wife Eleanor (Attleboro), George Lallier and wife Joan (North Carolina) and sister in law Lorraine Lallier; her daughter Suzanne (Sarty)Dansby and husband David (Orange, MA) and son Paul; grandchildren Crystal Daso (Wisconsin), Jessica Sarty (Rhode Island) and Monique (Dansby) Lazarus and husband Cameron (Westminster, MA) and great-grandchildren Hannah, Malachi, Chloe and Jonas Daso of Wisconsin, James Childs of Rhode Island, Skylar and Summer Lazarus of Westminster, MA; and many nieces and nephews.
