Aubrey Lee McDonald,77, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 1, 2022 at the Hospice Home. He was born in West Pointe, GA to the late George and Nellie Huey and was married to Gleness Terry McDonald for 58 years who survives.
Aubrey was a 33-year employee of Byrd’s Food Centers. After his career with Byrd’s, he became an associate with Walmart on Garden Road and retired in 2017. He was a member, Deacon, Choir Director and Sunday School Teacher of Glen Raven Baptist Church. He was a devoted Christian, Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and Brother who loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.
Aubrey is survived by his wife, children; Donna Marie McDonald Bartlett (Stan), retired Army Chief Warrant Officer 4, Aubrey “Jay” Lee McDonald II (Simone), James “Tony” Anthony McDonald (Lorie); grandchildren, Michael David Herron, Annaleigh Herron Brinkley (Jackson), RC McCabe, retired Air Force Lt. Colonel, Benjamin Bartlett (Jenny), Shaleen McDonald Lanzano (John), Justin McDonald (Jasmine), James “Jay” Hauser (Kim), Matthew Hauser (Jordan); great grandchildren, Abigail Hauser, Carter Hauser, Isabella Lanzano, Luca Lanzano, Addison McDonald, Stetson Hauser; sister, Wilma Lee Tarvin (Bill) and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Allen R. McDonald, Berniedean Benefield, Dorothy Thrower, Nellie Faye Crocker and Sybil Pittman.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am Thursday, January 6, 2022 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Lowe Funeral Home from 6pm-8pm.
