Barbara Ann Wilson, 89, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully at her granddaughter’s home in Independence, Virginia, on Saturday, May 10, 2025. She was born in Guilford County on April 23, 1936 to the late Oscar Lee Vogler and Ethel Isley Vogler.
In her earlier years, she worked as a waitress at IHOP and the Waffle House, sharing her warmth and friendliness with every patron. Later, she pursued her passion for art by opening Barbara's Bargains, where she showcased her artistic painting designs and designer flair. Barbara enjoyed visiting flea markets, not only to find treasures but also to rent a booth from which she could share her creations with others. She was a member of Woodlake Baptist Church in Pleasant Garden where she was known for her caring and loving nature.
Barbara is survived by her loving children, Jim Singleton and Linda Determan; her sweet grandchildren, Jennifer Singleton, Danny Ray Singleton and his wife Ashley, Kenny Callicutt and his wife Carrie, Lisa Flowers and her husband Steven, Harvey Callicutt, Amanda Hinshaw and her husband Joseph, Anna Singleton, Joshua "Josh" Singleton, Joseph Singleton, Josiah Singleton, Adonis Singleton, Tessa Ward, Kenny Ward, Brandy Ward and Kathy McGowan; along with numerous great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; her siblings, a sister Janie Kennedy and brothers, Jackie Vogler and Pastor Tommy Vogler and his wife Jo; and several nieces and nephews.
She has now reunited with her parents, Oscar Lee Vogler and Ethel Isley Vogler; her beloved sons, Danny Eugene Singleton and Bobby Dean Bassett; her daughter, Debra "Debbie" Ward; her grandson, Jeremiah Jacob Singleton; her granddaughter, Heather Nicole Singleton; her step-granddaughter, Jennifer Jarvis; and her daughter-in-law, Deborah "Debbie" Singleton.
A graveside service to celebrate Barbara’s life will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, May 16, 2025 at Gibsonville City Cemetery by Pastor Tommy Vogler. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM Friday prior to the service at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory.
