Barbara Lee Kepley

Graham – Barbara Lee Kepley, 72, passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at Alamance Regional Medical Center.  A native of Alamance County, she was born on May 25, 1950 to the late Henry Mack Kepley and Nina Riddle Kepley. 

Barbara retired after many years of service as a Sargent from the Alamance County Sheriff’s Department, where she did a lot of the training for other detention officers even after retirement.  She weight-lifted competitively representing the Sheriff’s Department where she broke and still holds many records.  She also taught art at Alamance Community College, loved photography and was an avid Carolina Tar Heels fan.  She also enjoyed playing softball on numerous teams. 

Survivors include Tammy Reid, sisters; Donna Kepley, Susan Kepley Pegg ( Keith), nieces and nephews; Kim Gray (Jeff), David Kepley Jr., Kristyn Orozco (Nelson), Kyle Pegg and Kaitlyn Shields (Mason), great nieces and nephews; Caroline Robbins (Nathan), Christopher Cannon, Micah Orozco, Kynlie Orozco, Judah Orozco and Sonny Shields, other special family include; Jolanda Williams, Meagan Son, Alesha Bates, Zoya Williams, Mila Son, Rhun Tain Son, Lucas Bates and Shane Cherry and family.  She was preceded in death by her brother; David Mack Kepley, Sr. and her parents. 

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at First Wesleyan Church of Burlington by Pastor Dennis Boone.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 1:45 prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Wesleyan Church, 304 S. Anthony Street, Burlington, NC  27215.
