Betsy Bateman

Burlington, NC Betsy Hamilton Bateman, 83, of Fieldstone Drive passed away on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at her residence. Betsy retired from AT & T now Alcatel-Lucent, Burlington plant in1990, after 39 years of service. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Elon. Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Louis Joe Bateman of the home; daughter, Bennie Bateman Catoe and her friend, Bill Vincent; son, Steven Karl Bateman of Oak Ridge, NC and daughter-in-law, Rhonda C. Bateman; granddaughter, Carlie Rae Bateman of Greensboro, NC. Other survivors include her brother, Bobby Hamilton and his wife, Billie of Kipling, NC. She was preceded in death by her parents, David Carlie and Ola Senter Hamilton of Kipling and a sister, Frances Hamilton Gardner of Dunn, NC. Betsy continued to play Duplicate Bridge at the JRK Senior Center and was a member of the New Outreach Pioneers formerly Telephone Pioneers. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Elon by Rev. C. Heith Sexton and burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 P.m. on Monday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home.
