Betty Hoyle

Elon Mrs. Betty Jean Hicks Hoyle, age 78, of 4000 Birkdale Ct. passed away Tuesday May 9, 2006 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. A native of Forsyth County, she was daughter of the late Silas Auburn and Lillie Sylvester Gordon Hicks and wife of Paul Hoyle who survives. She was a member of Holly Hill Baptist Church, was a choir member, a member of the Christian Womens Club, the former choir director at Grove Park Baptist Church and a member of the May-Lee Neighborhood Club She was a longtime employee of H & R Block and had also worked at Personally Yours. Mrs. Hoyle is survived by her husband, Paul Hoyle of the home; daughters, Jan Rene Hoyle of Burlington, Teresa Lynn Strausbaugh and husband Bill of Burlington and Robin Leigh Smith and husband Dr. Lenwood Smith of Columbia, SC. Grandchildren, Amy Jo Hoyle, Katie Smith, Lissie Smith, William Paul Bill Strausbaugh and Laura Strausbaugh; sisters, Wanda Stratford, Jackie Wheeler, Jerri Pardue, Doris Spain and Ebah Howell. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Odell Hicks, Cosmo Hicks, Gibson Hicks, Durwood Hicks, Rex Hicks, John Richard Hicks, Eloise Zachery, and Lillie Hicks. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday May 11, 2006 at the Holly Hill Baptist Church by Rev. Jonathan Harrison, Rev. Garry Baldwin and Rev. Drew Gay. Interment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. Mrs. Hoyle will remain at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory until being taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service.
