Liberty – Billy "Bill" Ray Bowman, 80, a beloved figure in his community and a cherished father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend, passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2026 peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 27, 1945 in Alamance County to the late Henry Michael Bowman and Ruby Dare Steele Bowman.

Bill was a retired self-employed sheet rock contractor, and in his earlier years he proudly contributed his skills as an employee with Monarch Hosiery. He enjoyed sharing stories of his days spent with tools in hand, always eager to lend a helping hand to those in need.

A man of many interests, Bill found joy in the great outdoors. Whether he was hunting or fishing at Buggs Island, he cherished every moment spent in nature. Cookouts with family and friends were a special highlight of his life. Perhaps one of his greatest passions was spending time with his great-grandchildren. Bill's face would light up as he gathered with them, sharing stories or simply watching them play and hearing their laughter.

Bill is survived by his devoted daughters, Kay Bowman Oliver and her husband Kim, Kimberly "Kim" Sue Bowman Westbrooks and her husband Lee, and Tracy Bowman Williamson; his grandchildren, Brandon Oliver and his partner Will Meyer, Cody Roberts, Blake Roberts and his girlfriend, Lea Curtis, Brock Oliver and his wife Marisa, Dustin Tulloch, Harlie Oliver and her boyfriend Jason “J.J.” Lucas, Leanna Westbrooks and Gracie Williamson; his great-grandchildren that he adored, Aubrey Roberts, Bella Wall, Dallas Roberts, Dawson Oliver, Ellie Rae Westbrooks, Dallon Oliver and Jaxson Blake Roberts; brothers, Danny Bowman and his wife Elaine and Charles Bowman and his wife Pearl, along with several nieces and nephews.

He now joins his beloved wife, June Carol Harden Bowman, who preceded him in death in 2002 after 28 years of marriage, as well as his parents and siblings, Jerry Wayne Bowman, Sr., Harold Dean Bowman, Sr. and Nancy Lee Bowman.

A true family man, Bill's legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. His spirit will continue to shine brightly through his family, forever guiding them with love.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, February, 20, 2026 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel with the burial to follow at Kimesville Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 1:45 prior to the service at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory and other times at the home of Brandon Oliver, 425 Wildwood Ln. in Graham.
