Greensboro, NC Billy "Bill" Rich King, age 74, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. He was a native of Alamance County and the husband of 55 years to Mary Leonard King who survives. Bill retired after more than 30 years with Exxon Mobile as a fleet superintendent. He was a member of Sun Tree Methodist Church in Melbourne, Florida where he was actively involved in Habitat for Humanity before moving to Greensboro to be near his family. Bill attended Oak Ridge Military Academy and Elon University before pursuing his career with Exxon Mobile. He enjoyed gardening and was an avid sportsman who loved the outdoors. Bill was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. Survivors include his wife, Mary L. King of the home; sons, Steven Craig King and wife, Susan of San Bernardino, California and Richard King and wife, Deanna of McLeansville; daughter, Robyn K. Myrick of Greensboro; grandchildren, Matt King, Maegan King, Alex King, Sam and Jack Myrick; sister, Jean C. Garrison and husband, Vernon of Burlington; 5 nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews; special aunt, Evelyn King Smith of Burlington and a special uncle, Elbridge Boswell of Burlington, also his faithful companion "Cocoa". He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar Lee King and Eva Page King; brothers, Robert L. King and G. Ervin King. A service to celebrate his life will be held Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Norman Harris. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home and continuing with light refreshments at the home of his sister, Jean Garrison in Grand Oaks.
