Bobby Gray

Mr. Bobby Ray Gray, age 78, of Burlington, stepped into the arms of his Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, March 11, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family.

Born in Caswell County, he was the son of the late Herman Wilson Gray and the late Leona Oakley Gray and was married for over 56 years to Mrs. Emily Wilborn Gray, who survives.  He was formerly employed with Burlington Industries before retiring as a Captain with the Faucette Fire Department with over 25 years of service.  He also was employed part time for many years with Jim’s Curb Market and owned and operated B & E Lawn Service.  He was a longtime member of New Hope Baptist Church, an avid antique collector, a Duke basketball and Nascar fan, and enjoyed working outside whenever he could.

Mr. Gray is survived by his wife of the home; three children, Sarah Lynette (Condrey) Gray of Helen, GA, Garry (Melanie) Gray of Whitsett and Tina Gray (Jeffrey) Carr of Burlington; six grandchildren, Tarah, William, Chandler, Makennah, Noah and Davis; three great grandchildren, Andrew, Emily and Esther; a brother, Ernest Gray; three sisters, Vera Stephens, Hazel Coleman and Janie Coleman; and his canine companion, “Charity”.  He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Lola Poteat; and a brother, Harold Gray.

The funeral service will held at 2:00 PM Friday, March 15, 2019 at New Hope Baptist Church by Rev. Randy Hobbs.  Entombment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park Mausoluem.  The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 PM Thursday evening at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory and other times at the residence.
