Brenda Ann Howard Hitt, 75, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at the Hospice Home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 29, 1951 in Alamance County to the late Burley Smith Howard and Lona Mae Goodson, and was the wife to the late Louis Wayne Hitt who died in 2007.
Brenda was a retired CNA who worked in healthcare the majority of her life. She was an in-home caregiver for several families during her career. Brenda devotedly cared for her own mother during the last years of her life.
She and her late husband Wayne enjoyed traveling, mostly to the Midwest. Everyone that knew Brenda, knew that she loved the Lord. Her saying was “Jesus Loves You”, whenever she hung up the phone with you or when you were leaving her home. Brenda enjoyed being around her family and she was so proud of them. Through the years, Brenda spent time with her great nieces and nephews making memories that they will cherish forever.
She is survived by her devoted nephews, Clinton Howard and his wife Wendy, and Eddie Howard and his wife Robin; nieces, Amanda Howard, Heather Howard and Christy Howard; her great nephews, Caleb, Dustin, Dylan, Aaron, Jacob and Chance Howard; great nieces, Victoria “Tori” Howard, Ashley Howard and Crystal Gail Howard. Brenda has now joined her parents; her beloved husband, Wayne Hitt; her brothers, Eddie Howard, Sr., Danny Ray “Tucker” Howard and Curtis Howard; and a nephew, Joseph Brent “Joey” Howard that have preceded her in death.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Brenda’s close friend and neighbor, Patsy, for all of her loving care, kindness and compassion that she showed to Brenda during her illness.
Brenda had requested to be buried beside her late husband Wayne at Pine Hill Cemetery with no public services.
