Brenda Clapp Hutchens
Brenda Kay Clapp Hutchens, 74, passed away on Friday, December 30, 2022 at Richland Place Assisting Living surrounded by her family. She was born on December 9, 1948 in Guilford County to the late Roy Everett Clapp and Dovie Violet Barber Clapp, and was the wife of 53 years to the late Melvin Lee Hutchens who died in 2021.
Brenda was mainly a dedicated housewife but had various part-time jobs throughout her marriage to Melvin. She enjoyed ceramics, arts, crafts, camping and gardening. But most of all Brenda loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her sons, Jeff Hutchens and girlfriend Yvonne Labenne and Neil Hutchens; five grandchildren, two great grandchildren; and a sister, Peggy May. Brenda was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings, Annie Lee Apple, Edward Clapp and Kenny Clapp.
The graveside service will be held at 2:00pm Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Alamance Memorial Park by Rev. Darrell Massey. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8pm Wednesday at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory.
