Brenda Smith Kelsey

April 6, 1947 — June 16, 2024

Gibsonville

Brenda Smith Kelsey, born on April 6, 1947, in Guilford County, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2024, at her beloved home.

Brenda had a profound love for gardening and plants of all kinds. She loved to be surrounded by her plants, even spending the last of her days making sure that they were watered and taken care of. Her dedication to beautifying Moricle Park with beautiful flowers for others to enjoy earned her recognition from the City of Gibsonville. Alongside her husband Glenn, Brenda enjoyed exploring the wonders of the world, especially visiting Alaska and Australia. Together, they embarked on adventures and shared a love for riding bikes that brought them joy. Apart from her green thumb and thirst for travel, Brenda found great pleasure in decorating and caring for her home. Her attention to detail and creative flair shone through in every corner of it, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all who entered.

Brenda was preceded in death by her adoring husband, Glenn Kelsey; parents, James Troy Smith and Sara Weaver Smith; sisters, Mary Morgan and Barbara Bondurant; and brothers, Tommy Smith and Donald Ray Smith.

Brenda is survived by her loving family, daughter, Kelly Creed Gordon (Lee Jarrell); stepchildren, Joyce Webster, Glenn E. Kelsey (Cindy), Danny Kelsey (Annette), and Jimmy Kelsey (Alice); grandson, Kasey Gordon (Lori); granddaughter, Karissa Gorsuch (Calvin); sisters, Lucinda Hyde (Jay) and Susan Harder (Ricky); brother, Jimmy Smith (Libby); special niece, Sarah "Bootsie" Bradley; and a host of step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, and other family members, as well as her devoted dogs, Boomerang and Sophia.

A private family celebration of Brenda's life will be held at a later date.

May she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the beauty of the gardens she tended so lovingly.
