Brian Edward Busick, age 44, passed away unexpectedly on January 13, 2026, at Wesley Long Hospital in Greensboro. He was born on April 26, 1981, in Guilford County to Peggy Atkinson Busick and the late Marcus “Mark” Milton Busick.
Brian had an adventurous spirit, a curious mind, and a huge heart. He traveled across the country and beyond, sharing wondrous sights and often cramped accommodations with friends and family. He especially loved annual family trips to Holden Beach, where he jumped waves with his niece and nephews and stayed up all night talking with his sister and watching meteor showers. As a teen he took guitar lessons and found a friend and mentor in his guitar instructor. Later he joined a band called Lefty that toured regionally and played many shows in Greensboro. Like his dad, Brian loved to play billiards. Unlike his dad, he could run several racks of balls in a row.
He loved his mama. For the last several years, they shared a home and countless games of Scrabble. Brian was happiest when with family, whether at a huge holiday gathering or quietly strumming his guitar on the porch.
He loved the Lord and marveled at His creation, especially the sky. “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands,” says Psalm 19.
Brian was a truly joyful man whose big, hearty laugh was both infectious and unforgettable.
Brian is survived by his mother, Peggy; his sister, Erica Busick Batten and her husband, Phillip Randall Batten; his niece, Mia Catherine Batten, and his nephews, Winford Thomas Batten and Wesley McLean Batten; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins on both sides of the family.
