Calvin James Cahoon, of Elon, North Carolina, age 13, passed away on June 20, 2026, from injuries sustained in a tragic automobile accident.
Calvin was born on January 31, 2013, in Alamance County, North Carolina. His life, though far too brief, was filled with love, kindness, determination, and joy. He was a rising 8th grader at Western Alamance Middle School, where he was known for his hard work, character, and kind heart. Calvin consistently exceeded expectations, earning honor roll recognition as well as multiple academic and character awards. He was loved and respected by his teachers, coaches, classmates, and teammates.
Calvin enjoyed playing football and wrestling for his school teams and participated in many sports throughout his life, including soccer and baseball. He was always a supportive teammate and gave his best in everything he did.
More than anything, Calvin was a wonderful son, grandson, big brother, and friend. He loved hunting with his grandpa, fishing, gardening, collecting coins and other collectibles, listening to music, gaming, and spending time with his friends. He also loved his dog, Gus, and his pets Sophie and Dobby.
Calvin was deeply loved by everyone who knew him. He was humble, hardworking, loyal, and always willing to help anyone in need. Kindhearted and thoughtful, he was a light in the darkness, with a smile that could brighten any room. He was polite, well-mannered, and always looked out for others — whether a classmate, teammate, friend, or family member. Calvin touched hearts in ways words can never fully describe.
Most of all, Calvin knew Jesus, and we take comfort in knowing he is in His presence now.
Calvin is survived by his mother, Hannah Welborn Cahoon, and his siblings, Judson and Lillian; his father, Matthew Cahoon and stepmother, Heather Cahoon; stepsister, Leah; his grandparents, Pam and Stuart Welborn; his great-grandmother, Marion Talbert; as well as many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, teammates, teachers, and all who loved him.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 4:00 PM Friday, June 26, 2026 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Brandon Delk with interment to follow in Magnolia Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30-3:45 PM Friday prior to the service at the funeral home.
