It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carlene McCourt Spreeman, who ventured peacefully into eternity on May 9, 2025, at the age of 77, embraced by the love of her family. Born on February 10, 1948, in Crawford County, Michigan, Carlene was a remarkable woman whose strength and compassion touched the lives of all who knew her.
Carlene's journey began with a passionate dedication to nursing. As a proud charge nurse, she embodied leadership, compassion, and perseverance, setting a high standard for excellence in patient care. Her ambition and unwavering commitment propelled her to earn dual master’s degrees, further solidifying her influence within the healthcare community. Her resilience extended beyond her profession. At just 27, Carlene faced a significant health challenge with remarkable courage, emerging stronger and inspiring those around her. This tenacity became a defining trait, inspiring those around her to approach life’s challenges with courage.
A woman of deep faith, Carlene loved Jesus and found joy in attending church, where she fostered connections that supported her spiritual growth. She cherished the simple pleasures in life, relishing moments spent with family and friends—nothing brought her greater happiness than sharing a meal or going out to lunch with loved ones.
Carlene is survived by her devoted daughters, Heather Conklin (Brent) and Heidi Lance (Patrick), who carry forward the values and love she instilled in them. She was a beloved grandmother to her six grandchildren: Spencer, Graycen, and Karlee Lance; Emery, Chandler, and Breleigh Conklin, each of whom held a special place in her heart. She is also survived by her brother, Michael McCourt, who will treasure the memories they shared, as well as by her beloved nieces and nephew, whom she loved dearly.
Preceding Carlene in death were her father, William Arthur McCourt, and her mother, Jane Hale McCourt, as well as her sister, Cleveann Wolf, and her husband, Roy. They leave behind a legacy of love that continues to ripple through the lives they touched.
