Carolyn Glenn Powell

    Carolyn retired after 15 years with IBM. She was of the Presbyterian faith and a member of the Easter Star #123 in Gainesville, Virginia. She enjoyed playing bridge and was a graduate of Walter Williams High School Class of 1952.

    Survivors include her sons, William Glenn Powell and Gregory Kirk Powell; grandchildren, Ashley Powell, Christy Armstrong and husband Donald and William Glenn Powell II; great grandchildren, Caiden Powell and Maddie Armstrong and her sister, Dare Clayton and numerous Nieces, Nephews and Cousins; her former daughter-in-law, Sharon Chambers and her canine companions, “Roxie” and “Bella”. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, Maternal Grandmother, who raised her that she called “Her Mama” Rosa Moore Glenn; sisters, Jane Williams, Betty Small and Margaret Beckom.

    The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Authoracare Hopsice especially her head nurse, Sarah and her caregiver, Betty Baldwin.

    A service to celebrate her life will be held on Sunday, February 27, 2022 at 2:00PM at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Darrell Massey. The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:45pm prior to the service.  The burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will be at her home at other times.
