Chandler Thomas Clayton, 27, a devoted law enforcement officer and beloved member of his community, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Alamance Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 28, 1998, in Durham County, to Billy Thomas Clayton II and Susan Bradsher Clayton.
Chandler graduated from Western Alamance High School in 2017 and further pursued his academic passions at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, where he earned his undergraduate degree. Since 2022 he has been pursuing his career in law enforcement. Chandler was currently and had been proudly serving as a Deputy Corporal with the Caswell County Sheriff's Department, exemplifying courage and honor in his career in law enforcement.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Chandler found joy and fulfillment in a variety of pursuits. During his school years, he played numerous sports, including baseball, cultivating a spirit of teamwork and resilience. An avid hunter and fisherman, Chandler loved spending time at the coast, embracing the tranquility of nature and the exhilaration of the outdoors. His lifelong love of animals reflected a compassionate heart. He was also a devoted fan of both the UNC Tarheels and the Georgia Bulldogs, demonstrating a lively enthusiasm for collegiate sports. Most importantly, Chandler treasured his time with family and friends and was a devoted, longtime member of Lakeview Community Church.
Chandler is survived by his loving parents, Billy Thomas Clayton II and Susan Bradsher Clayton of the home, and his special friend, Grace Hardy of Wilmington. He is also deeply remembered by his uncles, Steve Bradsher and his wife Allison of Apex, David Bradsher and his wife Amy of Roxboro, Bryan Clayton and his wife Jody of Roxboro, and beloved cousins Emory, Kennedy, Andi, Luke Bradsher, and McKinzie Clayton. Chandler was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Arthur L. “PaBud” Bradsher, Jr., and Sandra S. Bradsher and his paternal grandparents, Billy T. Clayton and Brenda Y. Clayton.
He is also survived by Joann “Grammy” Bradsher and his aunt Caroline Jordan and husband Tim of Fuquay-Varina, and cousins, Abby and Madison Jordan.
The outpouring of love and support from Chandler's family and community was evident during his final moments, as he was surrounded by those who held him dear. His kindness, strength, and dedication leave an indelible mark on all who knew him.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, March 19, 2026 at Lakeview Community Church by Rev. Tyler Thompson with interment to follow at Union Ridge Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-7 PM Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at Lakeview Community Church and at other times at the home.
Chandler’s memory will forever be cherished by his family, friends, colleagues, and all whose lives he touched with his genuine spirit and unwavering kindness.
