Charles Huffman

Elon-Theres rejoicing in Heaven, Charles Charlie Emmett Huffman, Sr. left this Earth and entered the gates of Heaven Sunday Morning May 28, 2006 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. He was born May 3, 1941 in Iredell County, to the late Emmett D. and Mary Elizabeth Huffman. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, where he was an usher and a member of the Welcome Bible Class. He was the owner and operator of Huffman Paint Company for many years. Charlie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and he will be dearly missed. He was also a kind and loving friend to all who meet him. Mr. Huffman is survived by his wife Maxine K. Huffman of 38 wonderful years; daughters, Annette Welker and her husband Tony of Liberty, NC, Devonda Starr of Burlington; son, Charles E. Huffman, Jr. of Burlington; grandchildren, Sarah and Jacob Welker of Liberty, Megan Nicole King, Amanda Lynn and Sarah Elizabeth Starr of Burlington, and Chad S. Huffman of Burlington; brothers, Robert Huffman and wife Carol of Elon, and Tommy Huffman of Myrtle Beach, SC; sisters, Betty Peyton of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Linda Jones and husband Henry of Burlington; mother-in-law, Geneva Q. Reed of Mooresville, NC; and his special dog, May Blossom. Funeral Services will be held 3:00 PM Wednesday May 31, 2006 at New Hope Baptist Church by the Rev. Randy Hobbs. The body will lie in state from 2-3 PM at the church. Internment will be at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Tuesday, May 30, 2006 at New Hope Baptist Church. At other times the family will be at the Huffman residence 2161 Phibbs Rd, Elon. Memorials may be made to the New Hope Baptist Church Building Fund; 1525 Flora Ave, Burlington, NC 27217.
