Charles Edwin Patterson, Jr.

Charles Edwin “Eddie” Patterson, Jr., 90, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 15, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family.  He was born in Orange County to the late C. E. and Mary Fitch Patterson and was married for 68 years to Shirley Smith Patterson who survives. 

Eddie was a former employee of Western Electric for over 30 years and was a member of Glen Hope Baptist Church.  He was a U.S. Army veteran.  Eddie loved playing golf, fishing at the coast, doing yard work and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.  He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. 

He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley; daughters, Leigh Ann Pennington and her husband Darryl, Julie Sharpe, Amy Baker and her husband Todd; grandchildren, Danielle Sharpe, Catherine Thompson and her husband Seth, Rachel Whitney and her husband Zach, Caroline Baker, Ryan Pennington and his wife Rebekah, Caleb Baker and Caden Baker; great grandchildren, Nora and Tate Thompson and a brother, Milton Patterson and his wife Judy.  He was preceded in death by his parents, infant sister, Sallie Belle Patterson; sisters, Audrey Summerell, Rachel Lankford, Mary Catherine Neighbors, Rebecca “Becky” Parrish; and brothers, Vance, Tyson, and Tom Patterson.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Glen Hope Baptist Church by Rev. Lewis Baber with interment to follow in Graham Memorial Park with military honors.  The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:45 PM Saturday at the church prior to the service.
