Charlotte McGuire

Charlotte Ann Councilman McGuire, 88, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at her residence at Cedar Ridge Retirement Community.  She was born on September 6, 1933 in Alamance County to the late Dewey Moore Councilman and Maggie Lee Mattox Councilman, and was married to the late Joseph Eugene “Mac” McGuire, Sr. who died in 2012.

Charlotte retired after 44 years with the Alamance County Department of Social Services.  She was a member of Holly Hill Baptist Church where she was a member of the “NGO” Never Grow Old group that she very much enjoyed.  But mostly Charlotte loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include her sons, Lawrence Parrish and wife Betty, Joseph “Jay” McGuire, Jr. and wife Debbie, and Gary Blaine McGuire; a daughter, Vickie Foster and husband Curtis; 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; a sister, Nell Newman; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brothers, Dewey Thomas Councilman and Herbert Councilman.

A memorial service to celebrate Charlotte’s life will be held at 2:00pm Sunday, January 30, 2022 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Gene Hunsinger.  The family will receive friends following the service.
