Christine Surcy Snyder

Mrs. Christine Surcy Snyder, age 85, of Gibsonville, passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2022, at her residence after several months of failing health. 

      Born in Wake County, she was the daughter of the late Hubert Surcy and the late Lillie Reese Womack Surcy and was married for over 59 years to the late Arthur Paul Snyder, who passed in 2014.  Christine retired from Carolina Biological with over 35 years of service.  She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Gibsonville, where she was the Treasurer of her Sunday School Class and enjoyed meeting on Sunday after church with her ladies’ lunch group.  She was an avid gardener, and especially enjoyed the Christmas season and loved spending time with her grandsons and their girlfriends.

     Mrs. Snyder is survived by her four children, Kerry Snyder, Rick Snyder and wife, Ashley, Pam Snyder Minter and Kelly Brooks and husband, Chris; her two beloved grandsons, Camden and Jackson Brooks; two sisters, Patricia Mednis and husband, John, and Theresa Koerper; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her canine companions, “Max” and “Maddie.”  She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and three brothers, Charlie Surcy, Stoney Surcy, and Bill Surcy.

     A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Gibsonville by Rev. J.D. Weed.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Tuesday evening at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory and other times at the daughter, Kelly’s, residence, 443 Cook Rd., Elon.

     The family would like to extend a special thanks to the “Angels” of AuthoraCare Hospice for all their loving and compassionate care for their mother during her illness.
