Clara Davis Piper Ayers

July 21, 1934 — February 17, 2026

Burlington

Clara Davis Piper Ayers, 91, peacefully departed this world on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at her home. She was born on July 21, 1934 in Alamance County to the late Coy Lockett Davis and Lois Clayton Davis.

Clara’s life was woven together with love for her family and a passionate dedication to her work in textiles, where she devoted the majority of her career. She ultimately retired from Jefferies Socks, leaving behind a legacy marked by her craftsmanship and diligence.

Clara was a warm and nurturing woman who found joy in everyday moments. She took great pleasure in exploring the digital world, connecting with loved ones through Facebook on a daily basis. Her love for embroidery was matched by her passion for reading, and she cherished every opportunity to spend time with her family, creating lasting memories that will be treasured for generations to come.

In her earlier years she attended Burlington Assembly of God, Clara found strength in her faith and community, which further enriched her vibrant life. Her proudest accomplishments were her family—being a loving mother, a devoted grandmother, a cherished great-grandmother, a supportive sister and aunt.

Clara is survived by her loving son, Lynn Piper and his significant other, Patrice Nye; her devoted daughter, Dale Hargrove; and her adoring grandchildren, Michael Hargrove and his wife Amy, Brandon Hargrove and his wife Ashley, Kim Pajewski and her husband Nicholas, and Matt Piper and his wife Alex. The joy of her life extended even further with her great-grandchildren, Katy Hargrove, Lindsay Hargrove, Emma Pajewski, Eric Pajewski and Weston Piper; a sister, Reba Hall; brother, Kendall Davis and his wife Cindy; and several nieces and nephews. She reunites now with her parents; her first husband, Charles Fleming Piper whom she cherished for 31 years, her second husband, Eugene Dock Ayers with whom she shared 18 years; her sister, Linda Mabry; and a nephew, Ken Davis.

The funeral service to celebrate the life of Clara will be held at 2:00PM Friday, February 27, 2026 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Aaron Wall with the burial to follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30pm to 1:45pm Friday prior to the service and other times at the residence.
